so yeah. it is officially COLD here... we only ran like 3 1/2 due to the chilliness (and laziness)...

my dad did a closet "purge" (for him, 3 sweaters and some ratty Ts), so this one is officially MINE now. :)

hmm, this one... the sweater itself is questionable, but warm & cozy. so here it is. (sweater: little brother's outgrown; jeans: aeropostale)


this is just... i wanted to wear this bright BRIGHT red jacket of my mom's that she never wears... i like the color. same jeans; jacket: mom's closet


this is another sweater i inherited from mi padre... crappy picture i know, but i was running out of time (and battery life on my camera...) sweater: dad's closet


this was mainly to incorporate the linen jacket... a very bland outfit, color-wise. also, the hat. yay :) (skirt - target; shoes - ??; jacket - mom's closet; hat - target)

hmm, any other updates? i didn't get a fur jacket yet, but i'm going to look into it pretty soon... see if that one is back up on ebay. i hope so. because it's COLD now.

sweater // school style vs. fashion in the real world, pt. I

i stole this sweater from my mom’s donation pile, and now she wants it back… i don’t think so! it’s so unbelievably warm & cozy, it’s perfect for those 30-degree michigan fall school mornings… shiver. it goes great with scarves, boots, and hot chocolate.

sweater – vintage banana republic
jeans – jean claude penne
scarf – orchid lane
cutout wedges – target

PT I

also, i've been thinking a lot about this. at school, the norm seems to be:
jeans (ae, aeropostale, or a&fitch are the most accepted)
brand (see above) teeshirts
fuzzy clogs/mocs (i approve mocs; clogs/crocs NOT)
[for "dress up" days] dress pants/"nice" jeans, knit shirt, heels (sometimes)

within these standards are also various types of dresses. we have:
-"jocks" - basketball, hockey, football, soccer. low-slung aero/ae/af jeans, polo/tee.
-wannabe gangsters - jeans around their knees, shorts UNDER their jeans, baggy hoodies.
-athletes - sweats, sport shirts. one thing if they're actually on a team; if not, it's NOT ok.
-whores - tight, low, transparent. also painted-on. (note: also usually lots of makeup and poorly cared for hair). other variation: wear baggy but somehow tight & low sweats, and sports apparel for sports which they obviously DO NOT play. (this grates my nerves)
-conformist girls - same AE jeans, sweaters, tees, and shoes. variations on the hair somewhat.

then there are the following:
nonconformist girls (ME): "dress up"... aka, jeans, heels/flats, sweaters, accessories... aka, we actually put thought and our own personal style into what we wear to school. very small percent of the population.
nonconformist guys: either goth or band person.
-goth: black, baggy, chains, studs, etc. and within that we have... well, that's for part II.
-band: jeans with a belt that aren't falling down (thanks god), tennis shoes, cool tees.
and one other area, punk/rock OR punk/rocker wannabe: skinny jeans, checks/stripes/lots of pattern, neon colors, interesting hair (READ: interesting = nonconformist = cool), sometimes piercings, band tees, neon/hitop sneaks.

latest buy: gray bf cardi

so i finally got a basic light gray boyfriend cardigan. [don't mind the sweats - i'm still sick, and it's just that sort of day.]FINALLY. from target, surprisingly. i also saw a cute red plaid blazer and some cord jackets, but alas - i was running out of money. the target site seems to be down, so i snapped some pictures while i was there... top: black ruffle GO blouse, target
bottom: red plaid GO blazer, target ($40... that i totally don't have. i NEED a job.)

and yes, it's STILL raining. weather coming up from hurricane ____ (whatever it is now... ike, i think?) yeah. so it's 70, humid, and raining cats and dogs, pigs and piccolos, ants and flamingos. aka, hard.
and i'm still sick, unfortunately. i have no idea how i'm going to run tomorrow... at least there aren't any meets this week.
haha... i'm seriously considering getting a pair of wellies... with this weather, i'm bound to need them. :P and i just looked at the radar... there's a cloud over michigan. all of it.
that's a big cloud.
*sigh* ok well, i'm off to study for a history quiz tomorrow at... shudder... school. how am i going to get through the day? (i'm thinking sweats, sorry. slackerism calls.)
